Education

The Foundation for Blood Research (FBR) considers education one of its three primary areas of interest - along with Research and Service. As a scientific resource in the community, FBR increases public understanding of scientific methods and biomedical research through its outreach education program ScienceWorks for ME - an innovative, hands-on science program for pre-college science teachers and students. ScienceWorks for ME works closely with multiple partners in Maine and throughout the nation to provide grant-funded professionial activities for teachers.

Current partners include:

• Maine Learning Technology Initiative,
• Maine Audubon,
• Kieve-Wavus, Inc.,
• Maine Math and Science Alliance,
• Simbiotic Software, MIT Teacher Education Program, and the
• Biological Sciences Curriculum Study Center for Curriculum Development.

FBR also publishes educational material for teachers, medical and nursing professionals, and the general public.
