The purpose of this course is to familiarize nurses with the rationale for prenatal screening for Down syndrome, trisomy 18 and open fetal defects. Using the case of a woman having Sequential Screening, the FBR's Medical Director, Dr. Walter Allan, and Genetic Counselor, Jeri Erickson, provide background information about the screening process and to help prenatal care providers support their patients' understanding of prenatal screening.
The course is organized in lessons that consist of video podcasts followed by questions. The videos vary from approximately 3 minutes to 12 minutes in length (total video time is 27 minutes).
This course should take 2 hours and successful completion earns 2 hours of certified continuing education credit.

Using the case of a positive couple, the FBR's Medical Director, Dr. Walter Allan, and Genetic Counselor, Jeri Erickson, provide background information about CF that will help prenatal care providers support their patients' understanding of CF screening.
