Relevance

Elevated AFP is associated with certain germ cell tumors including some forms of hepatoma, testicular tumor, and ovarian tumor in non-pregnant individuals. AFP levels are also used to monitor suspected hepatic dysfunction such as cirrhosis or newborn tyrosinemia
